About us

Hello! My name is Sylvia Brewster, the owner of Weldbilt Studio. I am a native Brooklynite and currently live and work in Brooklyn. I do many creative things like paint, illustrate, textile design, garden and write songs. I am influenced and amazed by the world and people around me, both the beauty and the grit and the grime. For me creating artwork ‘connects’ me. It brings me great joy and satisfaction. I hope I can pass this on to you.

Sylvia received a BA from Franklin and Marshall College majoring in Fine Arts and French Literature, and went on to study computer and textile design at the School of Visual Arts. She has kept many part time and some full time jobs over the years to support her creative efforts. Aside from some Graphic Design jobs, she taught Set & Scenery design and Arts & Crafts to junior high school students thru the Life Lines program in Sunset Park. Then worked many years freelancing in the garment industry designing children’s clothes and accessories. She also worked a few years at the Brooklyn Botanic Garden in the Horticulture Department. Sylvia started her own business, Weldbilt Studio, in 2005, and currently sells her art and card lines in local stores.
